As a part of Australia's largest university located in a unique rural setting, Monash University Gippsland Campus leads the way in internationally and regionally focused teaching, learning and research. Diversified course offerings (eight of 10 Monash faculties on offer), connection to the community, high quality teaching (continually given five star rating by Good Universities Guide), excellent support network, fantastic natural environment and prestigious Monash degree, have helped student numbers swell. Since a Pro Vice-Chancellor was appointed to the campus in 2000 the number of students studying at Gippsland has climbed by nearly 10 per cent. In 2004, 2,000 students studied on campus and a further 5,188 studied by the off-campus mode that was first pioneered at Gippsland in the 1970s. The largest faculty by student load is Business and Economics, followed by Arts, IT, Nursing, Education, Science, Engineering and Art and Design. Many of the faculties combine both traditional courses and novel courses designed specifically to take advantage of the region such as Sport and Outdoor Recreation and Environmental Technology. While the quantity of students continues to grow, quality continues to be priority one. As evidenced by the 2003 VTAC offers, Gippsland routinely has the highest ENTER scores of any regional campus in Victoria. Many of the faculties have ENTERs at least 10 points higher than any other regional campus. And more importantly, students not only enter, but exit with excellent results. This is evidenced by the fact that the 2003 Good Universities Guide gave the Gippsland campus the top rating for both graduate employability and starting salary.
