About the program

What is Co-op?

Co-op is an education program that combines practical work experience with studies.

Participants will put classroom knowledge into practice, and at the same time, learn on the job what can't be taught in a textbook. Students  chosen to take part in the program will benefit form workplace and leadership training programs and paid work placements as part of their studies.

Who is eligible

The Co-op Program is open to any  international Bachelor Degree student who is entering specified courses offered at Monash University Gippsland Campus. Students accepted into the program will spend an extended peiod in paid employment during the program over three years.

Selection for the program is based upon an on-line student application, written references and a telephone interview with staff at Gippsland Campus. Students will be selected on the basis of personal skills and motivation, as well as academic and non-academic achievements.

In order to undertake the work placements students will need to have successfully completed the set requirments of the course which they are undertaking. Students will also be responsible for their own transport and  and accommodation required to attend the work placements. While efforts will be made  to provide all employment within  Gippsland, it may be anywhere within Victoria. International students will also require a visa with condition 8105, which allows them to work up to 20 hours per week during the semester and full time during the semester breaks.
