General Information
International student friendship program – URGENT assistance required
Many new international students have recently registered interest in this program. However, we do not have enough /Aussie volunteer friends/ to pair up with these students.
We urgently require another 12 /volunteer friends/ to meet with 1 or 2 international students approximately once per month until the end of Semester 2. This means meeting with your student approx 3 times before the end of October by including them in your typical Aussie lives eg. a trip to Melbourne, a meal at home, visiting a local market, going to a movie or simply having a coffee and a chat.
To register your interest or make further inquiries please contact Health, Wellbeing and Development on ext 26425

Along with the Award presentations, we have invited Bronwyn Roberts who is a laughter consultant to present a more light-hearted presentation than in previous years but one that still has an important message. Bronwyn has almost 10 years experience as a community and corporate trainer and is the founder of Let's Laugh. Her programs provide information on the benefits of laughter in health and wellbeing and as a preventative and complimentary medicine along with strategies for having more laughter in your daily life to leave you re-energised, up-lifted and feeling fantastic.
Come and enjoy lunch and a laugh!
We would love for you to come along, enjoy lunch with your family, work colleagues and friends at the Leukaemia Foundation-Gippsland Lunch for Leukaemia event at the Waratah Restaurant in Morwell, 12noon, Friday 29 August 2008!
Savour a superb 2-course ‘spread’ and be guaranteed a giggle with our special guest (it’s a surprise) for only $25 per person!
When people with a blood cancer are being treated, their immune system is often so low that they have to be very careful with their diet and mixing with people, and they often lose their sense of taste and appetite.
As a result, they can miss out on the simple pleasure of having lunch with friends. By having lunch together we will help people in Gippsland who may not be able to enjoy such a simple pleasure.
Funds raised will ensure the Leukaemia Foundation can improve Gippsland patients’ quality of life through personalised and practical care. This includes the provision of ‘home away from home’ accommodation near major treatment centres, information and emotional support, education and support programs, transportation to and from hospital and practical assistance free of charge.
If you’re interested in the lunch, please contact Freda Webb (Freda.webb@adm.monash.edu) for a booking form.

On behalf of Friends of the Zoo, the Health, Wellbeing & Development team collects corks (both plastic and cork), which are then sent to the Zoo for recycling. The money raised currently goes towards Stage Two of the Asian Rainforest Exhibit, which includes a separate barn for the male elephant and the acquisition of more cow elephants. So the Zoo is eager to raise as much as possible towards the costs of the largest exhibit in its history. For more information, please contact Health, Wellbeing and Development.
