“I applied for the Co-op Program because I believed it would provide me with training from experienced employers that will help my study. The general training we have received so far in Co-op has helped me understand the recruitment process for graduates and what is required of me in the workplace. In the future I hope to work for an international company as I would like to be able to use my bilingual skills. My work placement is giving me hands-on experience, which will help me find a job after I graduate.”

“I really liked the idea of getting hands-on skills in my chosen area of study, which is why I applied for the Co-op Program. It seemed like a great way to make me more employable. The benefits I have already received by being in the Co-op Program are getting a real feel for what it’s going to be like once I finish my degree and actually get out there in the workforce. Also receiving great training and developing my skills in many areas such as interview skills and resume skills. My work placement is helping me understand the work I’m doing in class. It’s also broadening my skills and will ultimately make me more employable. I would recommend the Co-op Program because it’s a great way to meet new and exciting people who are in the same shoes as you. It has great social events as well as great training sessions and hands-on work experience that will ultimately make the transition process from uni to the workforce a lot easier.”

“I’m majoring in accounting, which is where I am going to develop my career. My dream job is to work as a management accountant, either in a large organisation or a government department. My Co-op position at Wellington Shire Council is giving me a great view into accounting jobs in the public sector, which was something I didn’t know anything about prior to my placement. Working alongside a management accountant at the Shire has given me a huge insight into what the job actually entails, which is something you cannot learn in your university studies alone.”
