“At the end of my course I aspire to work in the environmental science field to help in sustaining our natural environment by assisting businesses and industries to develop better environmental management strategies to reduce their impact on the environment. Combining the Co-op Program with my academic studies will help to better develop the skills required when applying for jobs. The Co-op Program will help me develop good communication and interview skills. Having the hands on skills will enable me to present myself with confidence knowing I have the knowledge both practically and academically for my chosen career in the environmental field.”

“I chose to enrol in the Co-op Program because it will give me the opportunity to apply what I have learnt in my lectures and labs to a practical, real life situation. I
have loved my experience in the Co-op program so far, especially the training to get us workplace-ready, and the social activities that have allowed me to make friends with
people apart from those in my course, which made settling into uni much less daunting.
I am planning to complete a double major in microbiology and chemistry, with an environmental science influence, and when I graduate I am thinking of a career in the
cosmetic, food chemistry, or perhaps even the soil testing industries. Hopefully, my work placement will extend my knowledge further, while allowing me to do something I love,
and make important industry contacts, which would be beneficial in the future.”

“I think Co-op is a great opportunity to gain work experience and skills in my chosen field. The benefits I have already received by being in the Co-op Program are great information on resumes and interview skills and also have met some wonderful supportive people with goals to achieve and positive attitudes. I one day hope to be involved in a research project, possibly in genetics or immunology. I am hoping my work placement will allow me to develop real working skills within a science/research type job. Co-op is a wonderful opportunity to attain work experience whilst working towards a degree. The training received for resume writing and job interview skills are vital for any field of work or industry and can help with any type of future aspirations. I believe it is of great benefit and an advantage to receive this experience.”
