Gippsland Research Committee
Gippsland Linkage and Discovery Initiative Scheme (GLADIS)
Call for Applications and Guidelines
The Gippsland Research Committee seeks applications for funding under its
inaugural Gippsland Linkage and Discovery Initiative Scheme (GLADIS). A total
of $75,000 is available for allocation under this scheme in 2008.
Purpose
The Scheme aims to assist academic staff in the preparation of applications
for either ARC
Linkage Projects grant for submission in the November 2008 round or for
ARC Discovery grant applications prepared this year and due for submission in
March 2009. More specifically, the main objectives of GLADIS are to increase
the number of applications submitted on the Campus for ARC competitive grants
and improve our success rate in these national competitive grant (NCG) schemes
.
Eligibility
The lead applicants for planned ARC Linkage or Discovery grant applications
must be Gippsland Monash University academic staff members holding full-time
appointments with an expectation of employment over the duration of the proposed
ARC grant period. Furthermore, applicants will have to demonstrate that they
have the necessary track records and a high quality project (including strong
industry support in the case of ARC Linkage grant).
How to Apply?
A completed and signed GLADIS application form must be submitted to the Gippsland
Research Office by Friday 29 August 2008.
Assessment Criteria
Project proposals will be assessed against the following assessment criteria:
- The research track record of lead applicant(s) – only applicants with
excellent research track records (publications, grants, etc) will receive
funding from GLADIS;
- The quality and innovativeness of the research proposal;
- Evidence of available cash contributions from industry if applying for
ARC Linkage grant;
- The national benefit(s) proposed;
- Potential for research proposal to lead to significant research outputs
and/or outcomes (publications, grants, etc);
- Support by the Head of School.
Amount of Funding
Funding of up to $5,000 will be provided per project to successful applicants.
In exceptional cases, requests for funding greater than this amount may be
considered. Funds received under GLADIS must be fully expended by the end of
this year.
Reports
Recipients of GLADIS funding are required to submit Draft ARC Linkage
or Discovery grant application to the Research Office at least 4-6 weeks
prior to final submission date. Draft applications must be submitted to Elizabeth.Veno@adm.monash.edu.au.
