Small Grant Research Support Scheme (SGRSS)
Call for Applications
The Gippsland Research Committee seeks applications for funding under its inaugural Small Grant Research Support Scheme (SGRSS). A total of $120,000 is available for allocation under this scheme in 2008.
Purpose
The Scheme aims to encourage more active staff participation in research on the Gippsland campus by supporting research activities that have high potential of achieving significant research outputs and/or outcomes.
Eligibility
Applicants should be Gippsland Monash University academic staff members holding either full-time or fractional (minimum 0.5 FTE) appointments with an expectation of employment over the duration of the grant.
How to Apply
A completed and signed SGRSS application form must be submitted to the Gippsland Research Office by Friday 16 May 2008.
Assessment Criteria
Project proposals will be assessed against the following assessment criteria:
- The quality and innovativeness of the research proposal;
- Potential for research proposal to lead to significant research outputs and/or outcomes (publications, grants, etc);
- The research record of the researchers, relative to opportunity;
- Demonstrated benefits or link to School research strengths and/or Campus research priorities; and
- Support by the Head of School.
Amount of Funding
Funding of up to $20,000 will be provided per project to successful applicants. Funds under the SGRSS must be fully expended within the year of allocation.
Reports
Recipients of SGRSS funding are required to submit Progress Research Reports after 6 months of commencement. Final Reports must also be submitted no later than 3 months after completion. Reports must be submitted to the Gippsland Research Office.
Appeals
Appeals will be considered only on the grounds that the selection was not in accordance with the selection process outlined in the guidelines.
Administration
The SGRSS will be administered by the Gippsland Research Committee (GRC). All communications about the Scheme should be directed to the Gippsland Research Office.
