The Gippsland Campus Student Awards Presentation Night was held on Thursday, August 17, 2006 and included the following awards:
The evening was an outstanding success, with over 160 attendees, including award recipients, Monash staff and industry representatives.
The School of Applied Sciences and Engineering presented a total of 35 awards; including 10 Industrial Engineering Scholarships, 3 GHD Internships, 17 Academic Excellence Awards and 5 Honours Scholarships.
Below we show a selection of Applied Sciences and Engineering students receiving their awards.
Gippsland Group Training representative, Mr Barry Whitehead, presents Luke Van Lambaart with the Gippsland Group Training Engineering Scholarship.
Mr Peter Duncan presents the International Power Mitsui Engineering Scholarship to Cara Van Megchelen.
Jessie Waugh receives her Latrobe City Engineering Scholarship from Mr Michael Edgar. Jessie was also awarded a VicRoads Gippsland Campus Internship.
Loy Yang Power Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ian Nethercote, presents the Loy Yang Power Engineering Scholarship to Ryan Carpenter.
Jason Howlett is awarded the Monash Energy Engineering Scholarship from Mr Greg Eagle, Executive Manager (Technical) at Monash Energy Pty Ltd.
Mr Mark Pearson from TRUenergy Yallourn presented two TRUenergy Yallourn Engineering Scholarships to Liam Cox and Kate Larrad. Liam also received an Academic Excellence award for second year engineering.
The Wellington Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Mr Lyndon Webb, presented the Wellington Shire Engineering Scholarship to Peter Mueller.
GHD Pty Ltd presented four awards on the night; one GHD Engineering Scholarship and three GHD internships. Pictured above we see Mr Ken Tabart and Mr Jim Kellett from GHD with all four award recipients: Owen Beebe, Chloe Hammond, Leigh Irvine and Tristan Vale.
Alicia Cruickshank received two Academic Excellence awards for second year biochemistry and second year chemistry. The awards were presented by Professor Sam Adeloju, Head, School of Applied Sciences and Engineering.
Paul McLaren was the recipient of the Academic Excellence in first year mathematics award, which was presented by the Head, School of Applied Sciences and Engineering.
Associate Professor Philip Rayment presented Kate Lucas with a School of Applied Sciences and Engineering/Gippsland Educational Scholarship Fund Honours Scholarship to undertake a project on “Mechanism of translation of HIV-1 vpo: Internal Ribosome Entry”. Kate also received two Academic Excellence Awards in third year biochemistry and third year microbiology.
