Prior to taking up the position of Head of School and a Chair in Chemical
and Environmental Sciences at Monash, Professor Adeloju was Professor
of Chemistry and Environmental Science, as well as the Head of the Penrith
Campus of the School of Science, Food and Horticulture within the College
of Science, Technology and Environment at the University of Western Sydney
(UWS). He was also the Director of the Centre for Electrochemical Research
and Analytical Technology at UWS from 1988-2002 and, previous to this,
was an Associate Director for the Centre for Chemical and Biological Analysis
at Deakin University (1985-87). In addition, he was the Program Leader
for the Research Training Concentration in Environmental and Materials
Technology at UWS from 2001-2002.
Professor Adeloju has national and international reputation in the areas
of biosensing technology, water quality assessment, stormwater management
and electroanalytical chemistry. He has published over 200 papers in these
areas in journals, books and conference proceedings. He was awarded the
Inaugural Chief Executive Officer's Award for Excellence in Research at
University of Western Sydney, Nepean in 1990. He was a Visiting Professor
in the Department of Analytical and Marine Chemistry at Goteborg University
in 1992 and in the Oceanography Laboratories at the University of Liverpool
in 1993. He was the recipient of the 1997 Royal Australia Chemical Institute's
Citation for outstanding contributions to the profession and the Institute,
and the 2001 Eckart Australia Visiting Professor at the University of
Tasmania.
Professor Adeloju was a co-Founder and Inaugural Chair of the Western
Sydney Section of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) in 1989
and was the Chairman of the Electrochemistry Division of RACI from 1994-1997.
He has served on the editorial board and organising committee of several
journals and conferences. He has worked on numerous consultancies for
local, national and international companies and organisations.
