Dr. Xue completed his PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from University College Dublin (UCD) in 2006. He worked at UCD as a Post Doctoral researcher for year before he joined Coffey Geotechnics as a Geotechnical Engineer in Perth, Western Australia. Before he joined Monash University, Gippsland campus in March 2009, he worked as a lecturer in the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, Tongji University, China. He was secretary to the Director of Key Laboratory of Geotechnical and Underground Engineering (Tongji University), Minister of Education, China, during that period. He has extensive experience in numerical modelling and centrifuge modelling. His current teaching area ranges from Structural Engineering to Geotechnical Engineering.

Dr. Xue’s research interests are mainly focus on the following topics:

  • Numerical and physical modelling of soil slope
  • Reliability based design
  • Seepage into unsaturated soils
  • Spatial variation of soil properties
