Microbiology

Microbiology allows us to enter and interact with an incredible microscopic world of life usually unseen.

  • Microorganisms are central to the web of life. The effect they have on all other life forms is infinite.
  • icrobiology is the process of investigation and manipulation. This science has extensive applications such as assessing the pollution of pesticides, achieving the production of safe foods and controlling the spread of infectious diseases
Examples of microbiology in action:
Studying an algal boom in a waterway
Monitoring bacteria and fungi in food manufacture and brewing
   Controlling parasites carried in substances
Investigation of viruses and development of vaccines
