Off-campus Learning
A Science degree can be studied either on-campus or in the off-campus mode.
There is also a flexibility of study modes allowing all students the opportunity to study some off-campus units.

How Science is offered in this mode
The School of Applied Sciences and Engineering provides the off-campus courses for Monash Science and has extensive experience in flexible course delivery, working in conjunction with the University's Centre for Learning and Teaching Support.
- Specially structured learning materials are in both electronic and print-based forms
- Subject advisers trained and experienced in teaching by this mode and can be contacted by e-mail, telephone phone and fax
- In experimental science subjects, laboratory activities at first level may be completed using specially designed home experiment kits
- Intensive residential schools are run each semester over 3 to 5 days in laboratories with academic and technical staff. Students learn alongside other students from around Australia and overseas
- The standard completion time for a single degree is six years
- Exams are held at centres all over Australia.

When to consider off-campus flexibility in an on-campus science program
- To assist the balance between work and study commitments
- To take an elective unit that is not offered on-campus, or offered in a particular year
- As an option to help issues related to study load
