I work for Ecowise Environmental, which is Australia’s largest provider of integrated environmental analytical, monitoring and consulting services. Clients include many state and local government authorities, leading national and international mining companies and private businesses. The company has also had projects in China, India, Southeast, USA New Zealand and the Pacific. Located in all states of Australia we have over 300 scientists, engineers and technical specialists.

We offer a range of physical watwr testing both in the field and the laboratory, alond with blue-green algae analysis and asbestos identification and monitoring.

My role is focused upon laboratory analysis, such as blue green algae analysis and water chemistryI also go out into the field to collect samples. Fieldwork is carried out on a regular basis, and covers a large proportion of this side of the state.

The blue green algae services have a substantial workload for around eight months of the year. We are contracted to a range of clients, which entails weekly monitoring, and analysis of various water bodies through Gippsland. This part of my work has made me appreciate the environmental issues we face in this part of the region, which makes my job very rewarding.

Other key areas include planning, laboratory maintenance and the organisation and delivery of reports. While working with Ecowise Environmental, I have found the company to be very diverse in the range of new directions that it can take me.

Studying at Monash University Gippsland was a really good experience that provided me with the necessary skills and tools needed to succeed in this industry. Having gained the knowledge from university it made it a lot easier in progressing to a working environment. After completing my degree I then relocated to work in Melbourne at MGT Environmental, Oakleigh. I am now grateful to be back in Gippsland in a good working environment. It gives me a an understanding of the industries and the environment in the local area.
