BSc(Biotech) Gippsland and off-campus 3 years full-time, part-time available VCE units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in English (any), or Australian or international equivalent, plus one of biology, chemistry,  mathematical methods (either), physics, geography, psychology or specialist mathematics ENTERS above 70 will be considered February and July
  • Leads to employment and research in new and developing science areas
  • Strong DNA techniques, hands-on training and research projects
  • Knowledge in biochemistry, cell biology, chemistry, microbiology, molecular biology and instrumental analysis
  • A choice of medical or industrial biotechnology
  • Links with regional industries enable final year students to participate in directed biotechnological research
  • Graduates have advanced laboratory skills and are well qualified for professional careers and entry into postgraduate programs

Course structure

  • First level units in biology, chemistry, mathematics, statistics and environmental and physical science
  • Two core science units
  • From three to six elective units
  • One strand from:
    • Medical : medical biology, biochemical basis of disease, immunology, diagnostics
    • Industrial: DNA technology, instrumentation, experimental design, data analysis
