Qaisar Ameer
PhD student, Pakistan
Monash is a prestigious university of Australia and I was fortunate to be awarded a Faculty of Science and a departmental scholarship to do my PhD at the School of Applied Sciences and Engineering (SASE) Gippsland. Being an international student away from family and friends can be hard at times. However, Gippsland is a great place to live, study and meet people from many different cultures and backgrounds. The friendly and welcoming staff make you feel at home.
This is multidisciplinary school has expertise in a variety of subjects, which is quite advantageous as a postgraduate student. My project is on the fabrication of biosensors. Many other postgraduates are also working in their fields of interest. We all live here like a family, helping each other, going out for shopping and other recreational activities. SASE also provides opportunities to see the world and present
work interstate or at international conferences. Gippsland has many indoor and outdoor recreational activities. For any student to enjoy the full benefits of Monash, I recommend being involved with clubs and societies.
