International Student Profile

Laura Davey, Zimbabwe

I am a country girl having grown up on a farm in a small community in Zimbabwe. The schools I attended were also small, so coming to the Gippsland Campus was not so daunting. The transition from school to university and from another country to Australia was made much easier due to smaller size of the Campus and its classes. The lecturers here at Gippsland are also very approachable, and with smaller class sizes you and they get to know each other individually, which is a real bonus. The Gippsland Campus also provides facilities that can help with writing all the reports and assignments required.

People here at the campus and in the town, Churchill, are very friendly and helpful. This really helps with learning the " Australian Way" and in finding some true and very special friends that you know can be trusted and relied upon. As there are many other international students you can always find someone to talk to and together with your friends you can get over any hurdles that you may find.
