From a student’s point of view the regional Monash Gippsland campus is a perfect starting point for an international student. I personally found the
campus environment here at Gippsland to be warm and inviting and the people generous and very friendly, and life in the residences to be extremely enjoyable.
The School of Applied Sciences and Engineering is one of the best available, and its well-equipped labs and friendly staff really make a difference when it
comes to studying science. The lecturers are extremely helpful and patient and are always at hand to assist with any problem or query. Given the size and nature
of the campus it’s easier to get to know your lecturers. The campus community is smaller and more closely knit, which makes it different from the other
Monash campuses and easy to build a close rapport with the staff and students.
Apart from study there are a wide variety of support groups available that can help new students to adjust to their environment. I found the orientation program
very helpful, as it was a great way of getting to know the University and some of the students before semester starts. The Gippsland campus is truly a fantastic
place to start an academic career where you can experience a wonderful mixture of cultures and languages. The Koori mural on campus is an apt representation of
campus ideals and symbolizes the innovative methods of teaching employed by its various faculties. I love studying here and I urge anyone thinking of studying science
to consider coming to this campus and experience it for yourself!
