International Student Profile

Yao Chen, China

Before I went to Gippsland campus to study Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology), I had some concerns because it's further from Melbourne city and urban areas, and would be not convenient to go shopping and searching for a part-time job. However, even during the first semester, I have experienced isuch a warm study environment where the teachers are willing and confident to answer almost all the unusual questions. I guess maybe one reason is that lectures are small, you can put your hand up to ask the questions during the lecture which is absolutely amazing for me as a student from China.

The equipment for study is very good also. The most important thing is the environment here. On a recent trip to Sydney I realised that the city is not suitable for study for me who likes silence although it may be easier to find markets or stores. However, there are so many attractions or temptations in the city that may make you unable to concentrate on study. Another attraction is the new graduate medical school opening in 2008 it is one of my dreams to be a doctor (like my grandfather). It is exciting to have the possibility to continue at Gippsland.

The final thing is the great landscape and fresh air. I am truly happy to enjoy such a perfect environment. Reading a book at the second floor of the library near the window, when tired I looked outside and thought "such a beautiful scene".
