Maintenance Management and Reliability Engineering

Programs offered

  • Graduate Certificate in Reliability Engineering (4 units)*
  • Graduate Certificate in Maintenance Management (4 units)*
  • Graduate Diploma in Engineering Maintenance Management
    Direct entry: associate degree, or recognised diploma in related area with appropriate work experience, or articulation from either Graduate Certificate: 8 units
  • Master of Maintenance and Reliability Engineering
    Direct entry with BE Honours or BE and equivalent experience: 8 units. 12 units for those advancing from the Graduate Diploma

* No degree or diploma, but have suitable qualifications and/or experience? You are welcome to study one or two units on a fee-paying not-for-degree basis. Completion of two units with 65% average grades enables acceptance into either Graduate Certificate with full credit. Continuing good performance allows articulation into the Graduate Diploma, and likewise later into the Master’s degree. (This opening is not available for students enrolling via the University of Tennessee).

The programs are only offered by off-campus learning: there are no on-campus classes. Our Unit Advisers are engineers from academia and industry, accessible via email or phone.

Study materials are print-based with web-enhanced delivery and on-line access to many resources, including our extensive Library.

Normally, two units are studied per semester, but a half study load is possible. Each unit requires about 150 hours over a semester, but this does vary with the individual. Mid-year entry is available, EXCEPT for the Graduate Certificate in Reliability Engineering, which has a required sequence of units.
